Hughes Surfboards
Handcrafted in Whale Bay, Raglan, New Zealand
There’s no place like Raglan to shape a board. Long, winding point breaks, ever-changing conditions, and a tight-knit surf community create the perfect environment for Luke Hughes to do his work. Each Hughes Surfboard is handcrafted by Luke in Whale Bay and designed to match your style and the waves you ride.
Whether you are chasing clean lines on a longboard or carving through sections on a custom shortie, every board is made to perform and made to last. You can choose from traditional P.U. construction or custom epoxy, depending on how you want your board to feel under your feet.
Hughes Surfboards was born in 2005 as a sister brand to Raglan Surf Co, founded by legendary shaper Craig Hughes after he settled in Raglan in the early 1990s. Craig re-established T&C Surf New Zealand, shaped for T&C and Xanadu, and continued to shape under his Ulladulla-established moniker, Wave Graffitti. That legacy of innovation and community lives on through Luke and the boards he makes today.
More recently, Luke has teamed up with Verdure to create a new line of sustainable boards shaped in Raglan and finished with Verdure’s signature natural tones and plant-based resins. The collaboration reflects a shared respect for craftsmanship, design, and the environment, producing boards that look good, feel good, and tread lightly on the planet.
