Karioi - A Film with Patagonia and Dave Rastovich
"If you tug on a single thing in nature, it connects you to the rest of the world." - John Muir
As surfers, we have an innate drive to protect the waters and the environment that surrounds it. We've had the opportunity to team up with Patagonia in a number of ways over the last few years, and feel that their mission, "We're in Business to Save Our Home Planet", perfectly aligns with the Raglan Community.
There are dedicated efforts taking place in Raglan by local community groups such as The Karioi Project, Xtreme Zero Waste and Plastic Free Raglan, the Whaingaroa Environment Centre and many more, working for one common goal - to protect this place we call home. In the bigger picture, they too are working to save our home planet.
Last weekend, we were lucky enough to host The Karioi Project for the launch of their film, "Karioi" - a film they teamed up with Patagonia and Dave Rastovich to create.
"Karioi tells the story of The Karioi Project as they work to save the oi, restore the maunga of Karioi, and in the process create a strong, vibrant community group connected to the land and sea around them. The film is presented by Patagonia, who have supported the Karioi Project as part of our Environmental Grantee program and is narrated by surfer Dave Rastovich."
The Karioi Project was joined by their amazing team of supporters, volunteers and local community members to celebrate their accomplishments and take an exclusive first-look at the vital work they are doing.
It was a perfect Raglan night, with music provided by Raglan's very own Kryptonites, food from Ulo's Kitchen and drinks thanks to the boys at Workshop Brewing.
A big shoutout to Patagonia Australia, Dave Rastovich and Nick at Seatrail Brand Management for their ongoing support of the environmental efforts happening in our community.
More screenings of Karioi are taking place in Raglan and around New Zealand, find the dates here - https://www.karioiproject.co.nz/news/2021/2/22/karioi-a-film-with-patagonia-and-dave-rastovich
