The Wetsuit Revolution
Billabong and O'Neill are the latest players in the sustainable wetsuit game. Taking notes from Patagonia, they have made a big shift towards a more environmentally friendly footprint.
Back in September, Billabong announced they would be making all of their future wetsuits from recycled materials.
Think upcycled car tires and neoprene scraps combined to create the highest thermal retention and lightweight stretch combination. Team that up with their airlite recycler made from recycled materials, and the noble prize-winning graphene, it's no surprise that the Billabong Furnace Natural was one of Stab's Top Wetsuits in 2020.
O'Neill will also be introducing the first-ever wetsuit recycling scheme, so you can upgrade to a new suit, knowing your old suit isn't going to end up in landfill. More details on their new initiative soon.
We are stoked to be adding these new players to the sustainable wetsuit lineup, alongside the Patagonia Yulex.
